We visited Killam & Bassette Farmstead with Taylor Kinzler to shop for a farm fresh Thanksgiving meal!

We believe in shopping at your local farm stand & farmers’ markets as much as possible! Killam & Bassette in South Glastonbury offers a huge variety of farm fresh goods well beyond what you would “expect” to find at your local farm stand!

Our shopping list:

Appetizers

1 Dozen Eggs for Deviled Eggs

Cheeses for charcuterie board

Honeycomb for charcuterie board

Jam for charcuterie board (we found a carrot cake flavor and cannot wait to try it!)

Sheryl’s Sweet Potato & Apple Casserole

6 Sweet Potatoes

6 Apples (Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious)

Apple Cider

Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Cinnamon Butternut Squash

3 Cups Brussel Sprouts

1 Butternut Squash

The recipe calls for pecans, but we found chestnuts at the farm stand, so we roasted those up instead and it turned out delicious! You could also use toasted pumpkin seeds.

Mashed Potatoes

8 Yukon Gold Potatoes

Half & Half (Smyth’s Trinity Farm dairy products are available at Killam & Bassette!)

Turkey

Garlic

Lemon

Can’t forget Dessert!

1 sugar Pumpkin for Pumpkin Pie

10 Apples for Sheryl’s Apple Pie

We were able to get the majority of ingredients we needed for our Thanksgiving meal at Killam & Bassette. We pre-ordered our CT Grown turkey from Sub Edge Farm & cannot wait to serve up a farm fresh meal this holiday!
