Fruits & Veggies - Moo Deng Style!

Are you looking to munch on healthy choices this fall to help keep you strong, energized, and youthful?! Just try the Moo Deng Diet! - Yes I am referring to a baby hippo, no it is not a real diet. ;)

This sensational baby hippo has broken the internet with her adorable, playful (yet aggressive), personality - but let’s focus on the real excitement here - what’s she eating that keeps her feeling so energized?! We’re going to dive into some of the food that Miss Moo Deng eats on a daily basis. Maybe it’ll inspire some healthy choices for us too!

Moo Deng is a pygmy hippo whose diet consists of being exclusively vegetarian. Typically, pygmy hippos in the wild will feed on leaves, forest plants, and sometimes various fruits. However, pygmy hippos in captivity get the royal treatment with lots of delicious fruits and veggies to enrich their diets.

Here is a list of some of these fruits and vegetables that Moo Deng might be caught eating!

  • Greens (like romaine, spinach, and dandelion)

  • Carrots

  • Zucchini

  • Cucumber

  • Cabbage

  • Pumpkins

  • Apples

  • Watermelons

Want a taste of the Moo Deng Diet? You can channel your inner Moo Deng by heading to different local farms in Connecticut to pick up your fruits and veggies! Here are some of the farms you can check out:
