What’s in Season? Winter Edition!

Do you ever get stuck in the winter months trying to figure out what fresh produce to get for the week?  The warmer seasons tend to get a lot of hype around what’s in season (e.g., strawberry season, raspberry season, apple season, etc.!), but then the winter months come and it all kind of fizzles away.

We’re here to tell you some of the amazing options in season from the CT Grown Crop Calendar of fresh produce that are in season this winter. Check it out!

Vegetables:

Veggies in CT that have an extended season or storage throughout the winter:

  •  Parsnips

  • Potatoes

  • Radishes

  • Rutabaga

  • Salad Greens

  • Spinach Sprouts

  • Winter Squash

  • Sweet Potatoes

  • Turnips

  • Arugula

  • Beets

  • Brussel Sprouts

  • Cabbage

  • Carrots

  • Kale

  • Leeks

Unfortunately in CT, there aren’t as many fruits in season in the winter months. Apples are the only fruit that have a longer storage that goes up until May. Head to your local winter farmers market to grab some delicious apples that are still available!
