Winter Farmers’ Markets!

Winter may be cold, but it won’t stop us from getting out and shopping for our local farm products! One of the biggest misconceptions about farmers’ markets is that they only run when the weather is warm. Think again! There are actually many farmers’ markets that continue well into the winter months- yes, you heard me right- winter!

I’ve enjoyed checking out both the Storrs and Coventry Winter Farmers Market so far this season. Both of these options provided such a welcoming environment with their indoor set ups. Though Storrs was a bit smaller, it still had the fresh seasonal produce, eggs, honey, pies, beef, and so much more. They even had a food truck for customers to stop out - who can say no to that!

Coventry Winter Farmers Market was a little larger, held in the cafeteria of Coventry High School. I was amazed as to how many vendors participated. Anything you can think of, I’m sure you’d find it there! From fresh produce, artisan crafts, baked goods, jewelry, chocolates, flowers, beef, wood furniture designers, and SO much more! My 5 year old daughter obviously convinced me to pick up some chocolate covered pretzels on the way out. YUM! It was a great experience that I can’t wait to head back to.
