Farm To Chef Week!

Hi Friends!

It’s Farm To Chef week here in CT! Each year, this week is dedicated to highlighting chefs who have built relationships with their local farms. We thank them for featuring local CT Grown products in their dishes! This year, Connecticut Farm to Chef Week falls from September 9-16.

This week is a celebration of the state’s vibrant agricultural community and the chefs who use local ingredients to create delicious and sustainable dishes.

We see no need to re-create the wheel… check out this fabulous list of restaurants, food trucks, and farm dinners that source local from the Farm to Chef program here.

My personal favorite spots on this list are:

Zohara, West Hartford: (Spicy Mike & I had our first date & celebrated our engagement here!)

Arethusa al tavolo, Bantam: Make your reservation in advance as it books up quickly. This is a great place to celebrate something special! Their menu changes daily and features what is in season.

River Tavern, Chester: You won’t be able to decide what to order, everything on their menu is delicious!

Oyster Club, Mystic: Amazing food and a super fun vibe, especially in the open-air seating with a water view called the Treehouse.

Shell and Bones Oyster Bar & Grill, New Haven: We were just lucky enough to celebrate one of my lovely friends birthdays at Shell and Bones! The water views are gorgeous and the food is incredible. The cheese & charcuterie board and coconut milk fried cauliflower (vegan option alert!) were both crowd pleasers!

I have not made it to The Shipwright’s Daughter yet, but it is on my very short list to try!

There are several Chef to Farm dinners this week, check them out if you can!

Zohara Farm Dinner at Sub Edge Farm: Thursday, September 14th

Max Ole - Tacos & Tequila: Thursday, September 14th (omg yum)

Indian Buffet Dinner at White Gate Farm; Saturday, September 16th

HAVE FUN!

Do you know of a fantastic local restaurant that consistently sources locally but you don’t see them on the list? Reach out to Cyrena Thibodeau at cyrena.thibodeau@ct.gov or 860-895-3094. We have had the joy of working with Cyrena on several projects and she is just the best!
