Did You Know?

Do you ever wonder why so many cucumbers vary in shape & size? Well, there are actually 2 types of cucumber plants: vining cucumber plants and bush cucumber plants. The variety of cucumber will depend on the type of plant it is! 

Vining cucumber plants have the most variety of cucumbers. Just like it sounds, the variety of cucumbers that are vine plants, grow on a vine from the ground and are heavily shaded by large leaves. These cucumbers are typically larger in size. 

Bush cucumbers are the much smaller cucumbers that you see. They are perfect for pickling! To read about the specific types of cucumbers visit the Farmers Almanac!


Let’s Pickle!

After you grab some small bush cucumbers from your local farmers market or farm stand, try pickling them! I know what you’re thinking: I can’t do that or I don’t have time for that. Think again- they don’t call it “quick pickling” for nothing! There are a variety of ways to pickle your cucumbers and here are some of the easy options:
